GTA 6 Requires Up to 212GB, Rockstar Confirms Free Leonida Map and Poster
Rockstar Games has revealed new GTA 6 launch details, confirming a massive download size, early preloading, and the return of the traditional GTA map and poster, although it won't be included inside the box.
With GTA 6 launching on November 19, Rockstar has confirmed that players will need up to 212 GB of free storage space, depending on their console.
GTA 6 Preload Starts November 10
Digital preloading begins on November 10, 2026.
On PlayStation 5, downloads will become available at midnight local time, while Xbox Series X|S players can begin globally at 12:00 a.m. GMT.
That gives players more than a week to download the game before launch.
The physical code-in-box versions of GTA 6 are expected to begin arriving at retailers on November 12.
These versions do not contain a game disc. Instead, the box includes a digital download code.
GTA 6 Needs Up to 212 GB
Rockstar says the GTA 6 preload requires up to 212 GB of storage, although the exact size may vary depending on the console.
That makes GTA 6 one of Rockstar's largest releases yet, so players may want to clear some storage before November 10.
The GTA Map Is Returning, But Not Inside the Box
One tradition from older Grand Theft Auto releases is also returning.
Rockstar will release an official GTA 6 poster featuring the cover artwork and a map of Leonida.
However, unlike GTA 5 and previous physical releases, the map won't be included inside the standard box.
Instead, Rockstar will make the poster and State of Leonida map available as a free digital download on November 19.
Players will be able to download the files and print them themselves.
Physical Poster Will Cost $0.99
Fans who want an official printed version will also have that option.
Rockstar plans to sell a double-sided physical version through the Rockstar Store shortly after GTA 6 launches.
The poster will cost just $0.99 when purchased separately.
It will also be included free with any other purchase from the Rockstar Store.
Rockstar hasn't yet provided details about international shipping costs, which could end up being considerably more expensive than the poster itself.
A Small Change to a Classic GTA Tradition
Physical maps have been part of Grand Theft Auto releases for decades.
Opening a new GTA box and unfolding the map was part of the experience for many players, especially with games such as GTA: San Andreas, GTA 4 and GTA 5.
GTA 6 technically keeps that tradition alive, but this time players will either have to print the map themselves or order the official physical version separately.
At least everyone will still have access to the complete Leonida map for free once the game launches.
GTA 6 releases on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
