GTA 6 Reveals Its First Radio Stations and Introduces Podcasts to the Series

Rockstar has finally started introducing the radio stations we’ll be listening to across Leonida, and GTA 6 is bringing one major new feature to the series: podcasts.

Radio has always been a huge part of Grand Theft Auto.

Whether you're speeding through Vice City, cruising around Los Santos, or simply sitting in traffic, GTA's radio stations have helped define the atmosphere of each game through music, talk shows, commercials, and Rockstar's trademark satire.

GTA 6 will continue that tradition, but this time Rockstar is going even bigger.

The company has revealed the first six radio stations coming to the game and says GTA VI will feature its largest and most diverse selection of radio and podcast content yet.

You Won't Need a Car to Listen to the Radio

One of the biggest changes is that radio will no longer be limited to vehicles.

Jason and Lucia will be able to use headphones or earbuds to listen to music while exploring Leonida on foot.

That means you could potentially walk around Vice City, shop, explore the beach, or travel through the wilderness while keeping your favorite station playing in the background.

It's a small addition, but one that could completely change how GTA's soundtrack fits into normal gameplay.

GTA Is Getting Podcasts for the First Time

GTA VI will also introduce in-game podcasts.

Rather than waiting for a particular program to appear on a radio station, players will be able to access certain podcast content on demand through the characters' phones.

Given Rockstar's history of parodying talk radio, conspiracy theories, celebrities, politics, advertising, and internet culture, podcasts seem like a perfect fit for modern Vice City.

The feature also reflects just how much the way people consume media has changed since GTA V originally launched in 2013.

Cocoteo FM

Cocoteo FM is focused on modern Latin music.

Hosted by El Martillo and La Gata, the station covers genres including bachata, merengue, dembow, reggaeton, and other contemporary Latin sounds.

Rockstar describes it as one of Leonida's destinations for a party that never stops.

For a game set in a Florida-inspired state, a major Latin station feels essential to Vice City's identity.

Back Country Radio

Back Country Radio brings outlaw and renegade country music to areas such as Grassrivers and Port Gellhorn.

The station is hosted by MW and Delta Dawne.

Its broadcasts also include local personalities such as a field reporter, a swamp weather specialist, and Mud Dog Mike, Delta's not-so-secret lover who reports from his airboat somewhere in the Grassrivers.

This sounds like classic Rockstar radio: music mixed with strange characters and local satire.

AfroBank FM

AfroBank FM is dedicated to African music.

Hosted by Burna and Palmsy, the station mixes older African classics and lesser-known tracks with modern genres such as amapiano and 3-step.

The station should give GTA VI a much broader musical range than previous entries and reflects the increasingly global music scene Rockstar is building around Leonida.

The Chamber 106.6

Metal fans aren't being forgotten.

The Chamber 106.6 brings heavy music to Leonida, with DJ Kerry and DJ Tom behind the microphone.

Rockstar describes the station as a home for crushing metal, with music drawing from classic heavy metal and later generations of the genre.

Expect plenty of music for those moments when peacefully obeying Vice City traffic laws stops being an option.

Flash FM

Yes, Flash FM is back.

The legendary Vice City station returns with Robyn and Alex hosting a new selection of pop music.

Rockstar describes it as a Vice City institution delivering some of the best pop and guaranteed dance music across Leonida.

For longtime fans, Flash FM's return is particularly interesting because the station has been closely associated with Vice City since the earlier games.

GTA VI is bringing it into the modern HD Universe version of the city.

Dirty South Classics

Dirty South Classics is all about Southern rap and hip-hop.

Hosted by Trick and Trina, the station focuses on regional classics representing Leonida and the wider American South.

From the beach to the neighborhood streets, the station looks set to provide the kind of soundtrack that feels perfectly at home in Rockstar's fictional version of Florida.

Rockstar's music page confirms Dirty South Classics as one of the first stations available for preview.

These Are Only the First Stations

The six revealed stations are not GTA 6's complete radio lineup.

Rockstar says the game will include stations covering everything from classic rock to talk radio, meaning there are still plenty more to be announced.

The six currently revealed are:

  • Cocoteo FM

  • Back Country Radio

  • AfroBank FM

  • The Chamber 106.6

  • Flash FM

  • Dirty South Classics

Rockstar has also released previews for the stations on the official GTA VI music page, giving fans an early taste of what driving through Leonida will sound like.

GTA 6's Radio Could Be Bigger Than Ever

GTA radio has always done more than simply provide background music.

It helps establish the culture of the city, makes long drives entertaining, introduces strange characters, and gives Rockstar another way to parody the real world.

GTA VI looks ready to expand that idea significantly.

With more stations, on-foot listening, podcasts, celebrity hosts, and a much wider range of musical styles, Leonida's radio could become one of the game's most memorable features.

And if these first six stations are only the beginning, Rockstar is clearly saving plenty more surprises for launch.
