GTA 6 Reportedly Coming to PC in Early 2027, Just Months After Consoles

PC players might not have to wait nearly as long for GTA 6 as many expected. A new report claims Rockstar plans to release the PC version during the first three months of 2027.

That may finally be changing.

According to a new report from GamesBeat, Rockstar currently plans to bring GTA 6 to PC in Q1 2027, meaning sometime between January and March.

GamesBeat says the information comes from four industry sources familiar with Rockstar’s plans, all of whom requested anonymity.

Rockstar did not comment on the report before publication. (GamesBeat)

PC Players May Only Have to Wait a Few Months

If the report is accurate, the wait between the console and PC versions of GTA 6 could be surprisingly short.

With the console version launching on November 19, a Q1 2027 release would put the PC edition only around two to four months behind consoles, depending on the exact release date.

That would be a huge change compared with GTA 5.

Grand Theft Auto V originally launched for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013, while the PC version didn’t arrive until April 2015.

That’s a gap of roughly 19 months.

GTA 6 could shrink that wait dramatically.

Rockstar Still Hasn’t Officially Announced GTA 6 for PC

There’s one important detail to remember.

Rockstar has not officially announced a PC version of GTA 6 yet.

The company’s current GTA VI website and support pages only list:

  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series X
  • Xbox Series S

There is currently no PC option available for pre-order. (Rockstar Games)

So while GamesBeat’s report comes from multiple sources, Q1 2027 should not be treated as an official release window until Rockstar says so itself.

Plans could also change during development.

Why Would Rockstar Release the PC Version So Quickly?

There are several reasons why a faster PC release would make sense this time around.

GTA has developed an enormous PC community since GTA 5 launched, particularly around:

  • Mods
  • Roleplaying servers
  • Custom content
  • Streaming
  • Community-created experiences

Rockstar has also shown much more interest in that side of GTA over the last few years.

One of the clearest examples was Rockstar’s acquisition of Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM, the hugely popular GTA 5 roleplaying platform.

FiveM has helped turn GTA roleplaying into one of the biggest communities surrounding GTA 5, and because that ecosystem is built around the PC version of the game, getting GTA 6 onto PC sooner could be important for Rockstar’s longer-term plans.

GTA 6 Could Have a Huge Future With User-Created Content

User-generated content is expected to become increasingly important to Rockstar’s future.

That doesn’t necessarily mean GTA 6 will immediately launch with full modding tools or FiveM-style roleplaying support.

Rockstar hasn’t confirmed that.

But bringing the game to PC quickly would create the foundation needed for those communities to eventually develop around GTA 6.

For a game expected to remain active for many years, that could be extremely valuable.

What About GTA 6 Online?

Another big question is when GTA 6’s online component will launch.

Rockstar has not announced an official release date for the game’s multiplayer mode.

However, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy previously suggested that GTA 6’s online experience would arrive in 2027.

GamesBeat notes that an early PC launch could fit naturally alongside Rockstar’s future plans for online play and user-created content. (GamesBeat)

Exactly how GTA 6 Online, roleplaying, and PC community tools will work remains unknown.

Rockstar Won’t Release It Until It’s Ready

Even if Q1 2027 is Rockstar’s current internal target, that doesn’t guarantee the PC version will actually arrive during that window.

Rockstar has already shown that it is willing to delay GTA 6 rather than release something before it meets the studio’s standards.

The console version was originally announced for 2025 before eventually moving to its current November 19, 2026 date.

Take-Two reiterated that November launch during its August 2026 financial results. (Take-Two Interactive)

The same approach will almost certainly apply to PC.

GamesBeat reports that while Q1 2027 is currently planned, the PC version will still need to meet Rockstar’s quality standards before it is released. (GamesBeat)

This Would Be Great News for PC Players

For years, the assumption has been that PC players would once again be left waiting long after GTA 6 arrived on consoles.

That may no longer be the case.

If GamesBeat’s report is correct, Rockstar could bring Grand Theft Auto VI to PC sometime between January and March 2027.

That would make the gap dramatically shorter than GTA 5’s PC delay and could signal that Rockstar now sees the PC community as a much more important part of GTA’s future.

For now, though, there is one important distinction:

GTA 6 for PC is reportedly targeting Q1 2027. Rockstar has not officially announced it yet.
